THE BEST REASONS.
There are many reasons why you should choose us. Here are only some of them.
A WORD ABOUT OUR BREAKFAST.
Many of you alread know it, some will face the experience very soon: When it comes to breakfast,
there are different standards in England than in our German homeland.
In England, "breakfast" is often regarded as "some toast" and may be two kinds of jam to choose from - not really a kicker. To foster our German heritage, we serve a "real breakfast" which can honestly be regarded as a meal. That is why you will find fresh fruit, cereals, sausage, cheese and much more. All this does not turn our breakfast buffet into a 5-star luxury treat but we know we are way above average of the poor performances many London tourists are "surprised" with. Even the smell of a freshly brewed coffee will make you feel a little bit more at home...
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW.
Here is what you need to know before you book your stay.
Major credit cards "VISA" and "MasterCard" are also accepted. We are not able to process Diners Club, American Express and other non-major cards. Sorry!
Just imagine you would come to a restaurant and ask "May I please grill my own steak - I know best how I like it!". Sounds strange, right?
Still, there is a chance that someone from the team will do you a favour as a rare exeption. Let us just talk about that beforehand.
We are able to offer you a secure parking space for five pounds per day.
...AND THIS IS WHERE WE ARE!
Wow! Right in the middle of London. The Underground, Buses, Sights, Tower Bridge - everything is only a few steps or stops away!
WHO ARE YOU GUYS?
We are part of the German Catholic parish "St. Boniface" in London. Wynfrid House is our guest house, open to everyone, regardless of their faith or nationality.
If you want to exercise your faith with us, you will find your (or our) church right next door. If you are not a religious person, you are just as welcome.
Because we are connected to Germany, you will often meet young German team members, who are helping us as volunteers to make things run smoothly here.
Most of all, we are a handful of nice people who are gladly looking forward to give you an unforgettable time here in London.
GETTING HERE IS SO EASY.
We are almost in front of your door. See how easy you get to us by airplane or train.
Around every thirty minutes „National Express“ coaches are leaving Stansted for "Liverpool Street station". These buses take around one hour and the ride costs about eight to ten pounds. They are air-contitioned and really acceptable.
You may also take any bus going to „Liverpool Street Station“, which is just a little bit farther away from us.
Bus ride is too long for you? Okay, „Stansted Express“ is a little more expensive, around eighteen pounds per journey. It stops at "Liverpool Street Station".
Once you arrived at "Liverpool Street Station", go one more stop using the „Hammersmith & City“ subway line, which appears in pink on the network map. Take any train going to „Barking“. Only one stop from here, you will arrive at „Aldgate East“.
Exit Aldgate East in driving direction. You arrive at the big „Whitechapel Road“, from which you will see a small park, occupying only about the size of a residential block. Simply walk across this park.
Now, you will already see our prominent St. Boniface bellfry and to its left our house number 20 – Wynfrid House. That was easy, right?
The cheapest way to arrive at Wynfid House coming from Gatwick is also the longest: A company called „easyBus“ is offering bus rides, starting about every 15 minutes, costing about eight to ten pounds. Buses stop at „Earls Court“.
From "Earls Court", find the Underground service „District Line“, (green line on the network map). Take any train going to „Barking“ or „Upminster“. About twenty minutes later, you will arrive at „Aldgate East“.
Quicker, but also somewhat more expensive, you may buy yourself a ticket for „Gatwick Express“ – the single ticket comes for around 18 to 28 pounds. Gatwick Express will go non-stop from the airport to famous „Victoria Station“ in about 30 minutes. From Victoria, you also take the „Disctrict Line“ (destination "Barking" or "Upminster") to Aldgate East station.
Lastly, there is a compromise: Another station on the „District Line“ by the name of "Blackfriars" is a stop of the "Southern Railway" coming from Gatwick. The train will stop more often on its way to Blackfriars and therefore take a little longer, but they only charge you around 18 pounds for the journey. From there, the Underground ride to Aldgate East is identical as described above.
After you have happily arrived at Heathrow Airport, find the Underground service called „Piccadilly Line“, going to "Cockfosters". It is the blue coloured line in the official map. In the tube, you will sweep underneath London for eleven stops until you arrive at „Hammersmith“ station. At the very same platform, you will find the „District Line“ (green) and about 15 quickly passing stops later (direction: "Barking" or "Upminster"), you will arrive at „Aldgate East“.
In front of Limehouse station, you will find bus lines 115 (going to "Aldgate"), 135 (going to „Moorfields“) and 15 (going to "Charing Cross Station" or „Trafalgar Square“). Hop on any of these buses and shortly you will exit at „Metropolitan University/Commercial Street“ – see it on our map?
From the bus stop it is only a few metres into "Adler Street". Once there, you will already see our prominent St. Boniface bellfry and next to it our house number 20 – Wynfrid House. That was easy, right?

Want to come by train? Find one going to famous „St. Pancras Station“. Inside, you will easily find the "Hammersmith & City" line (pink).

Fortunately, Wynfrid House is just a few metres outside London's "Congestion Charge zone", which is a ring around London where you have to pay to use the streets. You may arrive here without any fee! We are able to offer you a guarded parking space for five pounds per day.
